I am running for re-election to the Rhode Island House of Representatives to represent District 66 Riverside and Barrington.
As the State Representative for House District 66, I am ready to build on the accomplishments from my first term in office. These accomplishments include:
Sponsored and passed a law permitting registered 17 year olds, who turn 18 by the time of the general election, to vote in a primary election.
Chaired a House commission to study school lockdowns, safety drills, and responses to threats. Introduced legislation to reform the way school safety drills are conducted.
Sponsored and passed a bill to modernize our alcoholism statute.
Sponsored and passed a bill to regulate electric bicycles.
Served on the House Environment and Natural Resources committee and championed a number of climate and environment bills.
Served on the House Innovation, Internet and Technology Committee.
In 2022, after 10 years of advocating for common sense gun laws, hard work paid off when Governor McKee signed three substantial gun safety bills into law. I decided to pivot to public service in order to better impact the priorities I have championed for the past decade: fighting for better gun laws and protecting women’s reproductive rights, in addition to mitigating the damaging effects of climate change on the environment and support for small businesses.
I was raised in upstate New York, went to school in Pennsylvania and St. Louis, and spent a decade living and working in Washington, DC before moving north to Boston. In 2005, my husband and I moved our family to Barrington, where we run a small family business. We have two boys: one in college and the other attends high school.
I love Rhode Island, and I want to improve the lives of everyone in our community. I pledge to make decisions based on what is best for our citizens, to find common ground when conflicts arise, and to continually listen and learn.
